Rising and Returning

“Rising and Returning is an exhibition celebrating my deep connection to the Burrum River and Maroochy River. These rivers have formed cherished memories and provided tranquillity throughout my life with warm summer days filled with swimming, fishing and family. The paintings are the feeling of the sensation of what I have seen, the leaves awash on the shore from the tide, the dance of a heron feeding in the shallow waters, the warm embrace of the sun and it’s ever giving life force. Everything moves to the rhythm of the day, everything is rising and returning.”

Callum Francis (B.1995) is an artist based in Brisbane, Australia. Callum explores his connection to the landscape through painting and drawing, a process that is deeply reflective and contemplative. His work is a celebration of his love for the world expressed through painting the feeling of what he sees.

Callum has exhibited throughout Australia and the United States with his work being placed into collections internationally, including the Montefiore Einstein Collection in New York.
