ca Gallery is delighted to present Wild Geometry, the latest joint exhibition by Pam Walpole and Adrienne Williams. Following a trip together ealier this year to the Northern Rivers, NSW, the duo have been working toward October’s exhibition, continuing their conversations between their separate coastal studios located in the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay-Burnett regions respectively. This exhibition, and in truth most of their abstract landscape paintings are site responsive, to time and place, with this new collection capturing this iconic coastline and the artists’ shared journey.

Pam and Adrienne both live near the sea and in February this year they took a sketching holiday together, to another coastline. Bundling up their drawings and a giant canvas at the end of that week and returning to their home studios, they’ve spent the year working and sending images back and forth.

This ebb and flow became an uninterrupted conversation about the colour, shape and texture of the wild geometry on shores they’d been exploring. Compositions and colour have been shaped by tessellated rock platforms and pools in Yamba,  jagged coastlines, the strike of a tree trunk across a field of view, and mangrove pods floating to their next grounding place.

Despite exchanges about its ‘tricky nature’, they’ve also plunged into the dangerous waters of painting with greens. Pam and Adrienne have loved the companionship of another joint project even though they worked almost 300km apart, and they agree they have stretched and celebrated each others’ practices in these new landscapes.
