ARTIST STATEMENT

Award winning local artist, Tony Coles, has exhibited widely throughout Australia and overseas, including Brazil and Bolivia.

A recurring subject for the artist is the dynamic meeting place of ocean and land. This virtual place is where visions both real, and imagined are reconstructed. The balancing of elemental forms (headlands, clouds) and the ever-changing light conditions inform Tony’s work. The mystery of creating a visual language is what intrigues him.

Tony has said of his work, “Often I just have to let the painting tell me what to do, it’s an intuitive process.”
