In her latest body of work, Alison Mooney examines the ridiculous.

Separate from  her highly distinctive layered paintings and abstract public murals, ‘sidepiece’ features Alison’s first direct exploration of sculpture.

Alison’s body of work in this development showing experiments with ideas of invisible comedic labour. How much work goes into getting a laugh? And what for?

Alison’s practice spans canvas painting, photography, video, sculpture and large scale public works. She won Best in Show in the Caloundra Regional Gallery ‘Local Artist Local Content’ prize 2022.

Alison’s works on canvas work can be viewed in person at her representative galleries on the Gold Coast, in Sydney and Toronto. She is collected by the Sunshine Coast Art Collection and in private collections internationally.
